The angel Gabriel visited Mary in Nazareth and told her that she had found favor with God. Though she was a virgin, she would conceive through the Holy Spirit and give birth to a son, and she was instructed to name Him Jesus.
Joseph was a righteous man from the lineage of King David who worked as a carpenter. He raised Jesus in the town of Nazareth, teaching Him the trade of woodworking during His childhood and young adult years.
Jesus traveled from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. As soon as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove upon Him, and a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love.”
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness, where He fasted for forty days and forty nights. When He was at His weakest physically, the devil came to tempt Him, but Jesus defeated every temptation using the Word of God.
During a wedding feast at Cana in Galilee, the hosts ran out of wine. At the request of His mother Mary, Jesus miraculously turned six large stone jars filled with ordinary water into the finest quality wine, revealing His glory to His disciples.
A massive crowd followed Jesus to a remote place. Using only five barley loaves and two small fish provided by a young boy, Jesus blessed the food and multiplied it so that everyone ate and was completely satisfied, leaving twelve baskets of leftovers.
While crossing the sea, a violent storm threatened to sink the boat while Jesus was asleep. The terrified disciples woke Him up. Jesus stood up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind immediately died down and it was completely calm.
When Jesus arrived in Bethany, His friend Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Jesus commanded the stone to be rolled away, prayed aloud to the Father, and shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” Lazarus immediately walked out of the tomb alive.
During the night of Jesus’ arrest, Peter followed at a distance. When confronted by people in the courtyard, fear overcame him, and he denied knowing Jesus three times. Immediately, a rooster crowed, and Peter remembered Jesus’ prophecy and wept bitterly.
Early on the first day of the week (the third day after His Friday crucifixion), women went to the tomb and found the stone rolled away. Two angels appeared and declared, “He is not here; he has risen!”, fulfilling Christ’s promise of resurrection.
